March 2024 Volunteer of the Month
Byron Alvord
Certn, Director of Product
My role at PBSA:
I am currently co-chair of the Industry Practices committee.
Why I wanted to volunteer with PBSA:
I got involved with PBSA many years ago because of one of my favorite leaders I worked for in my past. She highly encouraged me to get involved. Once I got involved, I met great people that I can call friends and colleagues. In this industry, the learning never stops and the people that are involved make it all worth it!
What I do when not at work.
If I’m not at work I’m likely doing one of the following:
- Trying a new restaurant (I am a foodie)
- Trying a new coffee shop
- Traveling to a new country (just to do the above lol)
- Spending time with my wife and pup
- Golf
What I'm reading:
Right now, I'm not reading anything...any recommendations? I recently finished a book called “Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell. As a leader, being able to trust your intuition and instincts is something extremely important. Great book for anyone!
Favorite website, podcast, blogs, etc.
I have two things that I use regularly - OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Reddit. If you don’t use either one - please tell me how you get through your days.
On my desk right now (books, personal items, etc.):
On my desk, you will find my Iphone, Coffee, Chapstick, Airpods and Passport.
