January 2024 Volunteer of the Month
Marc Bourne
WorkforceQA, Vice President, Background Screening Services
My role at PBSA:
I am currently the chair of the Background Screening Credentialing Council
Why I wanted to volunteer with PBSA:
When PBSA was first founded, I got involved with PBSA to ensure our industry had a voice. It’s also a sense of giving back to the industry. I enjoy passing on information and knowledge to the newer members.
What I do when not at work.
I’m involved with several volunteer organizations, including The Vidocq Society, which is an invitation only organization made up of current and former law enforcement, investigators and forensic experts from all over the world who work pro bono to solve cold case homicides that law enforcement agencies present to us. I also volunteer with Long Island Bulldog Rescue. When I’m just relaxing at home, I’m probably watching an episode or two of The Office.
What I'm reading:
I haven’t had a chance to read much lately, however, when I do it is usually a book on investigations or business productivity.
Favorite website, podcast, blogs, etc.
Podcasts – I have to give a shoutout to Tim Santoni’s podcast “Background Screening Tips & Tech”, as well as Kevin Bachman’s “Background Check Radio”. My other fav would be The Office Ladies podcast hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey
On my desk right now (books, personal items, etc.):
My desk is always a mess – Organized chaos! But, I have pictures of my family, post it notes and a sign that says “Believe in You”
