Become an Advocate
The work we do as an Association requires one important thing across all our Councils - support from volunteers!
While we do engage with partners and legal support on specific matters, the involvement of our PBSA members is vital to the success of our grassroots efforts. To make a difference, you have to make your voice heard. We encourage all PBSA members to be informed about the issues that are impacting the industry and we have created Committees within each Council to do just this.
United States
We encourage members to use the information provided on the Legislative Action Center to take an active role in addressing the issues facing screening. We also encourage participation in PBSA Advocacy Day which occurs each spring with our MidYear Conference.
The most recent Advocacy Toolkit is available containing material to assist PBSA members in developing strategies to educate legislators on topical issues affecting screening.
PBSA is also looking for one or two individuals within each state willing to be State Captains who can organize a call or discussion with all of the state’s volunteers and liaise with our contracted partners on relevant issues. While legislation that requires action is not frequent, it is typically an urgent matter and will require the volunteers to organize on short notice, so having a ready stable of volunteers is invaluable. View the PBSA Grassroots Description and Memo to learn how you can make an impact in your state. If you are interested in becoming a State Captain, email volunteer@thepbsa.org.
