Criminal Research Provider Certificate Program
The Criminal Research Provider Certificate Program covers the fundamental concepts embodied in the PBSA Criminal Record Provider Guidelines. The Provider Advisory Group, in support of the overall mission of PBSA to advance excellence in the screening profession, has published several guidelines. These guidelines were adopted by NAPBS after an extensive process involving collaboration at all levels by industry providers and CRAs alike.
The program includes four training webinars and an exam. The webinars cover the following topics:
1. Overview of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) — The basic FCRA concepts and terminology, and some of the limitations on data that can be included in consumer reports.
2. Criminal History — PBSA Criminal Researcher Provider Guidelines, including research provider roles and responsibilities.
3. Data Retention and Data Security — Guidelines for Data Security & Privacy including policy and procedure, infrastructure, data transmission and security response.
4. Correcting Information, Disputes and Complaints
